SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – For the third consecutive year, MC Companies is honored to sponsor the Arizona Autism Speaks Walk in partnership with SARRC. The walk is on October 29th, 2017 at Tempe Beach Park.
MC Companies has spent the past year working hand in hand with the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SARRC), the Arizona chapter of Autism Speaks and other sponsors to fundraise, generate sponsorships, raise awareness, and plan a family friendly event. Employees of MC Companies will be out on walk day to show their support the autism community in Arizona.
“MC Companies believes in giving back to our community. Our team members always find a way to get involved in philanthropic efforts and the Arizona Autism Speaks Walk has been a tremendous rallying point for all of us,” says Director of Operations Michelle Sinclair. “1 in 64 children are diagnosed with autism right here in our state. We cannot ignore those numbers and MC Companies is passionate about raising autism awareness.”
According to the Autism Speaks Website: “Autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the U.S and has steadily grown over the last twenty years. Although autism is one of the fastest growing developmental disorder, it is the most underfunded.” Fundraising events, such as the Arizona Autism Speaks Walk, are vital in providing funding to research and development programs.
First and foremost, the walk is designed around autism awareness and helping those with autism in our community. One significant feature of the walk is the resource fair which is designed to help connect families to organizations and resources in the valley. Families can come speak to different service providers at no cost to learn more about their options in autism care.
“This week, Ken McElroy and I had the privilege of meeting with Angela Geiger, the President of Autism Speaks,” says Lesley Brice. “Speaking with Ms. Geiger about the research and impact that Autism Speaks has globally, nationally and locally reinforce our support for this event. We are so excited for walk day and invite everyone to join us.”
In addition to being an educational and awareness raising event, walk day is fun. During walk day, not only will teams walk alongside families affected by autism, but also have the opportunity to enjoy a performance from the ASU Men’s Gymnastics team, eat food from local food trucks, and play at the Kid’s Zone.
MC Companies is excited to participate in a day full of raising awareness and funds for autism research. If you would like to register for the walk or join Team MCLife, you can do so easily online at: http://www.autismspeakswalk.org.
